A married woman has dragged her boyfriend to the Civil Courts in Harare accusing him of calling her a prostitute. The woman, one Dadirai Masendeke, who was seeking a peace order against her live-in boyfriend Wonder Dzingai, was told by magistrate Mr Milton Serima that she was actually committing adultery.
"Your husband where ever he is, is a rich man. The two of you are actually exposing yourselves. You have a valid marriage certificate but you go ahead and co-habit with another man. Let your husband hear this as well as his wife and both of you will pay for adultery," he said.
Masendeke admitted that her conduct was tantamount to prostitution as stated by Msasa Project where she went seeking protection against her boyfriend.
"I am a prostitute but I want him to stop coming to my workplace harassing me. He insults me using vulgar language in front of my four children one of which is 16 years old," she said.
Masendeke met Dzingai in 2008 after separating from her husband in 2007. The two started co-habiting in 2009 until this year when their relationship became sour. Dzingai told the court that he is married to another woman and Masendeke knew about it.
"I caught her red handed with another boyfriend. I am now afraid of contracting sexually transmitted diseases after I realised that this woman has several boyfriends. We have not formally parted ways and I am surprised to hear her referring to me as her former boyfriend," he said.
Magistrate Mr Serima granted peace order in favour of Masendeke. Dzingai was ordered not to visit Masendeke's place of residence and work. She also barred him from verbally or physically abusing her.
