A plane with victorious Young Mighty Warriors on board to Harare on Sunday was forced to return to South Africa after developing a "technical fault" mid air.
The plane, British Airways flight number BA 6267, returned to OR Tambo International Airport in the afternoon.
A member to the Young Mighty Warriors travelling party has told of her scary experience.
"Before departing in SA we were told that the plane has a technical fault but engineers are attending to it. That caused a delay.
However, after being rectified we took off heading to Harare.
"I think we had entered Zimbabwe airspace when an announcement came through that the plane has to return SA to after the navigation system developed a fault" she said.
The announcers said the pilots "could not tell where the plane was going."
She said they landed 'safely' in South Africa.
In South Africa, the airliner had to buy everyone supper and later took off. It arrived after 10pm.
The mighty warrior's team was from Mozambique for a World Cup Qualifying match. They won 3 - nil on Saturday. They now face Nigeria.
