A HARARE man disowned his jobless son in court after he allegedly shattered windowpanes at the family house. The son accused his parents of chasing his wife away. Joseph Mandiopera (Senior) and Joseph Mandiopera (Junior) are at loggerheads and the father told the court he now lives in fear of his violent son.
"I no longer wish to stay with my son neither should he visit nor contact me in any way.
"He has come of age and should find alternative accommodation. I told him that he is needed at the Civil Court where our issue is being heard but he told me to get lost.
"He indicated that he is waiting for the Zimbabwe Republic Police to pick him up."
Mandiopera Snr took the matter to the Civil Court seeking a protection order against his son.
The 29-year-old son did not attend court after telling his father that summons only were not enough.
Mandiopera Snr told the court that an altercation ensued after his son accused his mother of wrecking his marriage.
He then shattered windowpanes.
Magistrate Mr Milton Serima granted the protection order in the father's favour in the absence of the son.
Mr Serima ordered Mandiopera Junior to immediately vacate and stay away from his father's house, Number 6237 Glen Norah B, Harare.
He was also ordered to desist from physically or verbally abusing his father.
