Deputy Prime Minister Arthur Mutambara says traditional leaders should help in the preservation of the country's history for the benefit of future generations.
Professor Mutambara was addressing traditional leaders and other guests at a cocktail hosted by the Minister of Local Government, Rural and Urban Development at the annual chiefs conference in Bulawayo.
Professor Mutambara said chiefs can play a leading role in the country's rich history by documenting the struggle for independence.
He acknowledged the role played by the traditional leaders as custodians of Zimbabwe's culture, saying their full participation will stop the distortion of the country's history by Eurocentric writers who distort it to serve their own agenda.
Mutambara challenged the traditional leaders to engage social cultural practices that fuel the discrimination of women.
