A BURGLAR sneaked into a house in Bulawayo's Cowdray Park with the intention of stealing electrical appliances but when he realised that the owner of the house is a beautiful woman —opted to rape her.
What's even gruesome is that the woman's two children watched the thief-cum-rapist ignore their mother's plea that she was on her menstrual periods.
Narrating her ordeal to B-Metro she said on the night in question she had retired to bed with her children. She was to open her eyes to see a smiling young man looking down on her.
She pleaded for mercy but to no avail.
"When he forced intercourse I showed him I was on periods but he went on to force himself on me and blood splashed as I failed to fight him off," she said.
After raping her, the man took $8 and her cellphone. Since then she hasn't had peace.
"Some days later there was an attempted break in. I think it's the same guy. We live in fear," she added.
Her sister told B-Metro that the family is yet to go for counselling.
"I hope the evil man is found. My sister and her children are yet to go for counselling. It's very sad," she said.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the issue.
