A burst water pipe near Mashasha hide out in Mpopoma high density suburb in Bulawayo has been leaking for the past 10 years and has not been fixed since then.
People living in the surrounding areas are now taking advantage of the gushing water as they use it for gardening and washing cars, among other activities.
Residents, who spoke to ZBC's Khulumani FM, said the pipe has remained in this state for the past 10 years and they have since engaged the council which once came and tried to fix it but failed.
Bulawayo United Residents Association Chairperson, Mr Winos Dube challenged the residents to stop abusing the water from the burst pipe as this is costly to the local authority, although the pipe remains unfixed.
He however urged residents to desist from using such water sources for drinking purposes as they might be contaminated.
