Dispose used condoms properly - Minister Nhema appeals

A ZIMBABWE cabinet minister has made a passionate plea to all condom users - please dispose them properly.

Environment and Natural Resource minister Francis Nhema told stunned guests in Bulawayo at a Miss Environment launch that used condoms are randomly disposed of and they are polluting water systems.

"Condoms and used ones for that matter are randomly dumped and are causing our water system to block. People should learn to dispose of their condoms in a safe place" said Nhema.

Nhema said polluted water bodies make water unification expensive for local authorities.

 "As we speak Bulawayo uses seven different chemicals to clean and purify its water while Harare uses at least 15 chemicals" added the minister.

 He also said salons are also to be blamed for dumping hair from their clients in undesignated areas.

Nhema'S remarks came days after Member of Parliament for Bulawayo Central Dorcas Sibanda claimed that Zimbabwean 'men here love sex a lot, they have it so many times and that's why we see condoms everywhere,".

 She said she had visited many public places and noticed the abundance of condoms, a sign that Zimbabwean men have too much sex.

 But she did not specify which type of condoms-male or female.
