Prime Minister Tsvangirai Saturday denied ever saying that President Mugabe was a God-given leader.

Addressing thousands of people at Mucheke stadium in Masvingo during a peace and prayer meeting Tsvangirai said journalists were wrong in reporting that he had said Mugabe had been chosen by God to lead Zimbabwe.

He said the way some journalists reported fanned violence in Zimbabwe.

In February, at a Chitungwiza Prayer meeting, Tsvangirai described Mugabe as a God-given leader chosen to lead Zimbabweans while urging Zimbabweans to pray for Mugabe.

Tsvangirai was quoted saying "President Mugabe is chosen by God, he is God given and all leader are chosen by God, so it is important for all Zimbabweans to pray for their leaders." Prayer meeting attendants clap and ululated when Tsvangirai said that.

He is now flip flopping from his earlier statements.
