Global airlines are reviving courier operations in Zimbabwe in response to government's business confidence policies and the re-engagement models.
The launch of a new cargo aircraft on the Harare route by Germany based express services provider created optimism over renewed business confidence in the country.
The airline's vice president for Middle East and Africa, Mr Malcom Macberth said the move will increase trade flows for Zimbabwe.
"We have increased our capacity to Zimbabwe and we are hopeful that such an initiative will unlock growth opportunities for the country as we seek to boost trade ties," he said.
The Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Supa Mandiwanzira said the new cargo aircraft will also benefit exporters.
"It is all about what we can do to improve exports in light with the Zimbabwe is open for business mantra so we just anticipate the new move will also enable more airlines to come on board," said Minister Mandiwanzira.
The re-engagement plan by the government has also resulted in the global community being confident on business opportunities with Zimbabwe, adds Germany Ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Thorsten Hutter.
"We are just confident of the level in doing business with the country a factor that can also translate into increased opportunities to create favourable business confidence," he said.
Cargo airline volumes have been depressed in the past few years with several airlines pulling out of the country citing losses and low business volumes in the form of exports and imports.
