ZIMBABWE Republic Police (ZRP) Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga yesterday applauded schools run by the police force for excelling in last year's Grade Seven public examinations, urging members of staff to maintain the high standards and make ZRP schools the most sought after.
Officiating at the 2018 ZRP primary schools merit awards ceremony at Morris Depot in Harare, Matanga disclosed the police schools got an average of a 96% pass rate, compared to 95% the previous year.
"This is quite a commendable feat hence I wish to congratulate all the teachers, school heads, pupils as well as parents for the collective effort and unity of purpose.
"Surely, I also wish to acknowledge the immense contribution of the Primary and Secondary Education ministry.
"And the great work of our school development committees whose wonderful activities are no doubt transforming the stature and outlook of our schools. To heads of our schools and their staff, I wish to say keep up the good work. By moulding these future leaders, you are actually contributing towards our national development," he said.
Thirty-four students from ZRP schools attained five units in last year's Grade Seven examinations with 20 of the pupils from the ZRP Support Unit.
ZRP Support Unit was also the most improved school while for the overall pass rate, ZRP (Harare) had 100%, ZRP Kadoma (97,8%) followed by ZRP Ross Camp with 97,7%.
