War veterans have recommended the readmission of Rugare Gumbo, Didymus Mutasa, Jabulani Sibanda and other veterans of the armed struggle who were either suspended or expelled before the new political dispensation ushered in last year in November.

Briefing the media after a meeting attended by provincial leaders of the association in Harare today, Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Secretary General, Victor Matemadanda said the resolution to re-admit expelled members will be forwarded to the ruling Zanu PF party for ratification.

"We had a resolution of asking the party to readmit all expelled war veterans especially the likes of Jabulani Sibanda, Didymus Mutasa, Rugare Gumbo and others back into the party because we feel the party becomes stronger and stronger when people are working together," said Matemadanda.

Gumbo is former Zanu PF spokesperson, Mutasa former Zanu PF Secretary for Administration and Sibanda former war veterans chairperson.

Matemadanda also noted that war veterans are greatly concerned by some members who are disrespecting the new political dispensation under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He said they want to work with true liberation war fighters who support President Mnangagwa in the forthcoming harmonised elections, adding that all corrupt elements in the party should be exposed.

The association's Spokesperson, Douglas Mahiya said there is need to beef up the Zanu PF national political commissariat to strengthen the party.

Provincial leaders at the meeting endorsed the removal of John Guta as Harare Provincial Chairperson and the appointment of Hoyini Bhila as Acting Chairperson.

They also raised concern on the organisation's Mashonaland West provincial leadership which they said is supporting remnants of the G40 cabal.
