Three suspected soldiers who reportedly robbed a Harare man of $21 000 after purporting they wanted to search his house have appeared in court.

Ekem Zvomuya, 34, Nabal Moyo, 24, and Innocent Mutimutema, 25 were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Tilda Mazhande.

The State, represented by Linda Gadzikwa opposed bail arguing that the State had a strong case against them and the accused might abscond court.

Through their lawyer, the trio argued that every accused person was entitled to bail.

Presiding magistrate Tilda Mazhande advised the trio to apply for bail at the High Court and remanded the matter to April 19.

Allegations are that on January 23, at around 8pm, the trio in the company of Mildred Makoto who is already on remand on the same matter hatched a plan to steal from Tawanda Zeze.

The three were reportedly dressed in national army uniforms and went to Zeze's house alleging that they wanted to take him to State House for some interviews.

They dragged him into his bedroom alleging that they wanted to conduct a thorough search.

Whilst inside they ordered him to open a safe and they stole cash amounting to $21 000 and four cell phones.

They blindfolded Zeze with a towel and forced him out of the house to the gate.

They dragged him to their car and drove away before they dumped him along Fisher Road, Borrowable East and they proceeded to transfer $527 from one of Zeze's Ecocash accounts.
