The 66-year-old Zanu-PF national chairman, Simon Khaya Moyo, has spoken for the first time after spending almost two weeks with a plaster.
Khaya Moyo said he slipped at home while taking a shower.
"It was a very innocent accident. I was going to have a shower when I slipped and hit the hand against the wall.
"It was a slight fracture, what the doctor said a parallel structure, cross fracture and it will heal quickly," he said.
Khaya Moyo said he was advised to have a plaster so that he does not move around the injured hand.
"I was not involved in a car accident or something serious but you should know that some of us, at our ages, we need to rest a lot to recover.
"I am currently working from home but I will be back in office full time next week," he said.
