Bodybuilder hangs self

A BEITBRIDGE bodybuilder hanged himself in his room after giving up on his injured leg and over neglect from relatives.
Godknows Munashe Zonke, 26, whose leg was badly injured by a machete in a bar brawl, penned a suicide note that read like will distributing his property and defending his decision to commit suicide.
Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Loveless Mangena confirmed the incident and said investigations were in progress.
"We have since opened a sudden death docket. His body was kept at Beitbridge District Hospital mortuary for a post mortem," Mangena said.
It is understood on March 30 this year, a Mutare-based relative raised alarm when Zonke failed to respond to her calls.
She then alerted his girlfriend, identified as Yeukai Kambezo, who lived in the same house with him to check on him.
After he failed to respond she peeped through the window and saw his lifeless body hanging from the roof trusses.
She alerted the police, who retrieved the body and the suicide note.
Part of the note from Zonke complained about how his relatives abandoned him in his hour of need after the injury which damaged his ligaments.
Zonke, originally from Mutare, was attacked by a gang of seven machete-wielding youths, who inflicted several deep cuts on his body and legs, and required a lengthy stay in hospital.
The youth have since been jailed for up to six years for the crime.
