Visions night club owner faces arrest over unsettled debt

Onwer of once prominent Visions Night Club and Bulawayo doctor, Tanius Mumbengwegwi faces civil imprisonment over failing to settle a debt of $24 000 for beverages supplied by Delta Beverages two years ago to his former Khami Bar leisure centre.
Khami Bar situated at the corner of Robert Mugabe Way and 10th Avenue is now under new management.
Delta Beveerages' lawyer Ndabezinhle Mazibuko has filed for an application to have Mumbengwegwi imprisoned at Bulawayo Prison popularly known as Grey Prison.
"It be and is hereby ordered that civil imprisonment be and is hereby granted in favour of the plaintiff (Delta Beverages) against the defedant (Mumbengegwi) for the defendant to be lodged at Bulawayo Prison for a period of 90 days, unless defendant sooner satisfies the judgment granted against him by Hourable Mr Lawrence Kamocha on the 19th of September 2011 case HC1730/11 for payment of $24,495.57 plus interest thereon at the prescribed rate calculated from 1st of Janury 2010 to date of full payment and costs of suit , the defendant will pay the costs of the civil impriosnement," read teh application.
The civil imprisonment application came after Mumbengegwi failed to pay the debt as ordered by Kamocha on 19 Septemeber last year and Delta Beverages had to apply for a writ of attachment of movable property which was granted on October 12, the same year.
However in December last year, the Deputy Sheriff of the High Court in his return of service after visiting Khami Bar to attach Mumbengewi's property reported that he found nothing attachable which could to meet the demands of the debt.
