Zanu-PF National Consultative Assembly member Jimayi Muduvuri has accused Norton legislator Mr Temba Mliswa of making unfounded allegations over ownership of a piece of land in the constituency.

Mr Mliswa had alleged that thousands of youths, who were allocated land in Norton, risked losing it after it was reallocated to Muduvuri.

But Mr Muduvuri said Mr Mliswa did not understand that former Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister Mr Saviour Kasukuwere had grabbed the land from him and purported to have distributed it to the youths following a political dispute.

The matter was heard in courts, said Muduvuri, and the land was returned to him.

"What Kasukuwere did is that after we had a misunderstanding, he went on to give the youths land that belonged to me," he said. "I sought justice and the matter was heard in the courts. So, I have the documents confirming my ownership of the land and the land was given back to me."

Mr Muduvuri said the youths must approach him so that the matter is resolved.

"The youths have to approach me if they have a problem, which we can sort out before proceeding to engage the Ministry of Local Government (Public Works and National Housing) where they can also be assisted. It is as simple as that," he said.

Mr Muduvuri also accused Mr Mliswa of trying to create problems and insisted he had documentation proving he was the legal owner of the 200 hectares of land.

Mr Mliswa told The Herald: "There was confusion regarding, who is handling the development as it would appear that it was being transferred from UDCorp's management and given to Beyond Reality owned by Jimayi Muduvuri.

"The move could further create serious political ramifications and the introduction of a new company would seriously affect confidence levels in the already poor perceptions of land barons in the area that was restored by the introduction of the Government owned UDCorp.

"Finally, thousands of people had already begun making payments that would seriously be disrupted by such a move. Following a series of meetings and my subsequent recommendation to Honourable July Moyo, moves were being made to regularise the transaction to remain with UDCorp, while Beyond Reality may be allocated land at an alternative site," he said.
