Andy Brown, who passed alway on Friday evening had been ill for some time. He was rushed to hospital on Friday morning after collapsing and having trouble breathing.
The 50 year old musician was said to have been unwell since returning from a trip to Switzerland about three weeks ago. According to a family member, he had pneumonia which worsened over the last two weeks.
He was admitted to Parirenyatwa Hospital where X-rays revealed that his lungs were full of phlegm. Doctors tried all they could to keep him breathing and it long struggle for the artist who gave Zimbabwe well loved songs like Mawere Kongonya, Tichangoshaina and Mapurisa.
And so on March 16, 2012, in ward C7 at Parirenyatwa Hospital, Andy Brown breathed his last. According to hospital records his time of death was 1815hrs not 16:00hrs as reported yesterday.
Last night, mourners were trickling to his house at Number 8 Gibings Road, Cranborne, Harare.
Burial arrangements are yet to be finalised, though Andy had indicated his wish to be buried at his rural home in Mberengwa.
