Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority has absolved President Mugabe for allegedly not paying electricity bill at his farms saying "his Excellency the President of the republic of Zimbabwe has always been one of our premium customers and we are grateful for his custom".
Last week is it was claimed that Mugabe owed the power utility a whooping $345 000.
"Electricity bills pertaining to His Excellency the President, Head of State and Government, and Commander in Chief of the armed forces are not in arrears… Zesa is not aware as to the source of the said information which is patently false and is designed to denigrate the person and office of the president" said the statement.
Today, media reports further claim that ministers Savior Kasukuwere owes $100 602, 22, Olivia Muchena ($44 000), Stan Mudenge ($9 478 35), Kembo Mohadi and his wife ($12 538 57), Vice president John Nkomo ($1 402 28), Giles Mutsekwa ($1 656 38), Samuel Sipepa Nkomo ($2 238 60) and Didymus Mutasa owes $179 590 31.
Zesa last week advised its customers that it was increasing load shedding outside normal schedule countrywide.
Recently, Zimbabwe's Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai admitted that he was among senior politicians sabotaging ZESA by not paying bills.
Tsvangirai said his bill had shot up to more than $5000 at his Strathaven residency in Harare.
He said cleared his debt. "Personally, I have had to pay a $5,000 bill at my residence in Strathaven... I paid and so should you!"
But that was after Zesa officials threatened to cut off supplies but did not say for how long he was defaulting.
