Ecocash fraudster gets community service

A serial Ecocash fraudster from Malberaign in Harare was slapped with community service by Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro on Tuesday (today).
Givemore Tapera defrauded Guruve Briskbay Hardware $714 by showing a fake confirmation message prompting the magistrate to sentence him to perform 420hours of community service.
According to state prosecutor Spiwe Makarichi at a date not known to the state Tapera bought building materials worth $714 using Ecocash in a dubious way by showing the shop attendant a fake message.
The materials were loaded in the accused's Toyota Wish vehicle and he drove away to Harare.
The shop owner latter figured out that the money did not reflect in his account and told the attendant to make a follow up.
Tapera was called by the attendant informing him that the money had not reflected and he said maybe it was due to network.
A police report was made at Guruve CID leading to Tapera's arrest.
However, investigations by Bulawayo24.com proved that Tapera survives on defrauding shops using the same modus operand around Zimbabwe.
It also emerged that some of his wanted dockets mysterious went missing at CID Harare offices hence he was treated as a first offender at Guruve court.
