GOVERNMENT will soon increase toll fees on major roads undergoing facelift and tighten pilfering of money. No vehicles, including those owned by the Government and ambulances, will be exempted from paying toll fees.
An exception will only be made on police highway patrol cars on official duty and the Presidential motorcade.
Zimbabwe National Road Administration chief executive officer Mr Frank Chitukutuku yesterday said the changes will be effected once new toll plazas under construction between the Plumtreeâ€"Mutare and Harare Road are completed.
He said this while giving oral evidence before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport and Communications chaired by Mutoko East MP, Cde Ordo Nyakudanga (Zanu-PF) on update on tollgates.
The toll plazas, expected to be ready by September, said Mr Chitukutuku, will have booms that only open when a driver has stopped and record the type of the vehicle and amount it should pay.
