Winless Dynamos target Yadah

SO much was expected of them at the start of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season by their largely vocal fans and all they have produced is just two points in the first five matches.

Statistically, this is the worst Dynamos side ever at this stage of the competition and a full-blown crisis is sure to erupt if they fail to collect maximum points again against Yadah FC at Rufaro this afternoon.

You will have to trace back to 2002 to find the next worst tally for DeMbare after five matches, when the Glamour Boys amassed four points with one win, one draw and three defeats.

Yet the turnover of points is double the current one where the Lloyd Mutasa-coached side has managed two draws and three defeats.

In that year, they survived relegation on the last day of the season and they had collected nine points at the same stage.

Even the turbulent tenure of Portuguese coach Jorge Silva delivered five points in the five games — the same as the 2013 season when the team started with five straight draws.

A defeat for the Harare giants will ultimately throw the club deep into crisis and possibly spell the end of Mutasa's reign as coach.

But Mutasa is adamant that the Glamour Boys will bounce back today with their first set of three points, catch up with everyone and eventually win the league title.

"We are not moved by what has happened. We have a better foundation, we have 29 matches to play and we are Dynamos, we have said this year we would want the league title and nothing else," the under-fire coach said.

Dynamos were 13 points adrift of log leaders Ngezi Platinum going into Week Six fixtures.

"It's high time for us as an institution to collect three points and catch up with the others. If we start getting three points, I think we will be ready to roll, Mutasa added.

"I would not want to take anything away from Yadah as they are just as good as any other premier league side. "The unfortunate part is we are playing them at a time when we are desperately looking for the three points."

Mutasa should get encouragement from the fact that last year they completed a double against the then debutants handing them their first defeat of the season.

Dynamos welcome0 back Peace Makaha from injury while Emmanuel Mandiranga and Marvelous Mukumba have begun light training.

Having collected five points so far, Yadah FC occupy 11th position on the 18-team log standings compared to DeMbare's 17th log position.

Yadah coach Thomas Ruzive is wary of the threat Dynamos pose especially considering that they are desperate for points.

"They are having problems at the moment, but anything can happen in football. Dynamos are a big team and they need the three points more than we do, so we are expecting them to come at us. It is very difficult to prepare for a team like Dynamos and we have had to psyche up our players a lot and hopefully we will get the three points," Ruzive said.
