74 year old commits suicide after testing HIV positive

A 74 year old man from Manicaland Province's Mutasa area in Honde Valley committed suicide by hanging on Thursday after testing HIV positive.
Victor Nyambuya hung himself at his homestead in Ngwende village after going for the test. He reportedly looked confused but it never occurred to his family ambers that he would commit suicide.
Acting Manicaland Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Enock Chishiri confirmed the incident saying it was unfortunate that Nyambuya chose to take his live when the virus was "now manageable."
"On the night of 15 March, Nyambuya disappeared into a nearby bush without being noticed. He did not return prompting his family to conduct a search," said Chishiri.
"The following morning, Nyambuya was found by his son hanging from a tree, 100 metres from his homestead. The son alerted the rest of the family members who then called the police. The body was taken to the mortuary."
Chishiri said, "It is unfortunate that Nyambuya chose to take his life yet the HIV virus is now manageable. We would like to urge members of the community to seek expert advice on such sensitive matters that resorting to suicide."
