The troubled Miss Zimbabwe Trust has approached the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority to assists in hosting the national beauty pageant to crown the 2012 queen.
ZTA, which was in charge of the pageant for more than six years last year withdrew from the pageant and the Trust failed to get corporate support to host the contest.
The failure by the trust to attract the sponsorship has caused delays in hosting the Miss Zimbabwe pageant.
ZTA chief executive Karikoga Kaseke who expressed disappointment at the preparations of the pageant confirmed holding a meeting with the Trust patron Kiki Divaries.
He said ZTA would not assist the Trust hard cash as, "they may abuse it."
"Government has been watching and reading various stories from the Press. They have noticed that the pageant needs help and they have asked us to assist by hosting the pageant for the next two years in order to avoid problems which have arisen,"said Kaseke.
"These people were saying the nation had failed them by not supporting the pageant yet they were not approaching people for sponsorship. They told me they needed sponsorship because the stories about the issue had been published in newspapers. Honestly no one ever sponsors after reading in the papers, you need to approach people individually."
