A local church pastor was involved in road traffic accident fleeing his wife after he was caught in the company of his alleged lover along Leopold Takawira yesterday.
Pastor Blessing Saunyama was reported to have started his parked vehicle upon seeing his wife and dragged her while she was clinging onto the vehicle door handle with a baby on her back drawing attention of passerbys.
He failed to observe stopping traffic lights and hit a double cab vehicle belonging to a member of the national army.
The lover disappeared from the scene as scores of people rushed to check on Pastor Saunyama's condition after she fell down with the baby crying.
Pastor Saunyama confirmed the incident saying the lady caught in his vehicle was his friend and nothing else.
"It is unfortunate that my wife was injured when I wanted to avoid her after she came while I was with a female friend in my vehicle," said Pastor Saunyama.
"My wife quickly suspected that she was my girlfriend and I was not aware that she was coming to see me but the lady is just a friend nothing else.
"I failed to see that the traffic lights were stopping me and this led me to crash into that vehicle and I am still do not know what they will say to me since the vehicle belongs to a soldier," said Pastor Saunyama.
Onlookers including kombi drivers called Pastor Saunyama names after they learnt that he was a man of cloth as police recorded statements from him.
"Dai pasina masoja takurovai nekuti hamungade kuuraya mudzimai wenyu nekuda kufadza zvipfukuto pfambi imi muri munhu wamufundisi," one of the onlookers was heard saying.
