An  irate man led his family to vandalise his former boss' property after he had been fired from a farm in the area, a Gweru magistrate heard.

July Sibanda (53), his wife Bridget (40), daughter Progress (18) and Last Ngodza (25) appeared before Gweru provincial magistrate Mrs Pathekile Msipa on charges of malicious damage to property.

They pleaded not guilty to vandalising Ms Ester Simango's property and were remanded out of custody to today.

The court heard that on Tuesday last week, Ms Simango decided to fire Sibanda and she immediately ordered him and his family to vacate the farm house.

Sibanda then allegedly teamed up with the other accused persons and went to Ms Simango's farm house and destroyed her property in protest against the eviction.

The family also smashed Ms Simango's car.

They accused Ms Smango of not following proper procedures in firing Sibanda, the court heard.

It is the State's case that the accused persons also wanted Ms Simango to pay Sibanda his wages before he left the farm.

Ms Simango reported the matter at Gweru Rural Police station leading to the family members' arrest.
