A Kwekwe policeman has filed assault charges and malicious injury to property against a security guard who arrested him for alleged loitering and trespassing into the controversial alluvial gold rich Sherwood Block claim in January.
Heaven Musekiwa a sergeant in the Zimbabwe Republic Police claims he was arrested by Benedict Ndokera at the height of the gold rush that attracted Zanu-PF bigwigs in the area.
He further claims he was detained but never taken to court.
Musekiwa said he was assaulted by Ndokera in full view of fellow police officers and his Nokia E79 phone smashed on his face.
"The police officers who were on guard were watching while Ndokera assaulted me because they had been bought by a plate of sadza by Ndokera's employer Clifford Sibanda," said Musekiwa in a statement.
Ndokera initially appeared before Kwekwe Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi on 8 March facing charges of assaulting an officer of the law and malicious damage to property. He was remanded out of custody on $50 bail.
The trial is expected to start on Saturday where Musekiwa is expected to testify against fellow police officers whom he accuses of having received payment from Sibanda.
