NURSES at Harare Hospital were left in panic mode after being fired by the government.

A survey conducted by H-Metro showed that a few nurses were back fearing for their jobs but they were just milling around to avoid being fired.

H-Metro overheard some of the nurses discussing the issue in various wards.

"For me, I will just come to work and sit than to get fired whilst at home.

"These people do not know how hard it is to clean someone's wounds without getting any appreciation.

"I will start doing my job once I am fully paid," said one unidentified nurse.

This move has resulted in the nurses ordering students to attend to patients without any supervision.

"On Monday, I was ordered for the first time to put a drip on a patient and I did it on my own.

"I came up with my relative on Monday around 9am and they ordered me to put him on the bed alone whilst they were sitting; they only attended to her around 6pm."

The other patient further grieved that she was ordered to go to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals as they could not attend to her.

The health delivery system continued to deteriorate further with patients dying each day unattended to.

Efforts to get a comment from the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr David Parirenyatwa were fruitless as his phone went unanswered by the time of going to press.
