Vehicle registration fees slashed by 50%

Government has reduced by 50 percent vehicle registration charges in a bid to improve the ease of doing business and investment climate.
Registering a vehicle used to cost $160.
The changes were announced by Transport and Infrastructure Development Minister Dr Joram Gumbo in a Government Gazettee yesterday.
"It is hereby notified that the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development has, in terms of section 52 of the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Act (Chapter 13:14), made the following regulations – (1) These regulations may be cited as the Vehicle Registration and Licensing (Amendment) Regulations, 2018 (No.18).
(2) The Third Schedule to the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Regulations, 1999, published in Statutory Instrument 427 of 1999, is repealed and substituted by the following – vehicle registration $80, vehicle number plate $80, trailer registration $70, trailer number plate $70, third number plate $17,50, replacement of registration book $15, and personalised number plate $2 500," said Dr Gumbo.
