The Welshman Ncube led MDC's national chairman Goodrich Chimbaira has threatened to reveal Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu's corruption and sex scandals following the Minister's notice to sue him for defamation.
Chimbaira last month told a rally in Nkayi that Mpofu acquired his wealth through political patronage to President Robert Mugabe and that the minister had dumped the people of Matabeleland during the Gukurahundi era.
Afterwards, Mpofu's lawyer Sindiso Mazibisa of Cheda and Partners wrote Chimbaira a letter of intention to sue, demanding $1 million for "hurting Mpofu's reputation, dignity and personal feelings."
However, addressing a rally in Gwanda on Saturday, Chimbaira said, "I am saying today, I am giving Obert Mpofu just one week for him to send his $1million summons. If he does not do that I will then remind him of Ziscosteel, how he broke someone's arm and not to mention his bedroom romping escapades" declared Chimbaira.
"When he is at Umguza (his constituency) he behaves like a governor there. But when he gets out he is like a small creature."
In a letter of intention to sue, Mazibisa said Chambaira's utterances were malicious as his client had
been portrayed as an unprincipled and untrustworthy person who sold out the late former vice president, Joshua Nkomo.
"Your utterances imply that our client has no business acumen at all. He is a political beneficiary, who has accumulated wealth owing to political patronage to President (Robert) Mugabe. In other words, our client's wealth is due to the fact that he calls himself the obedient son to the President and his political link is the source of his wealth," reads part of the letter.
