A PRINCIPAL director in Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai's office was yesterday manhandled by MDC-T security guards and barred from entering his office at Charter House in Harare after being accused of being a Zanu-PF mole.
Mr Valentine Selemani, a principal director for monitoring and evaluation in the PM's Office, battled with the security guards who claimed to have received an instruction from Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office, Mr Ian Makone, not to allow him into Charter House.
Charter House, which is located at the corner of Julius Nyerere Way and Samora Machel Avenue, houses Government offices.
However, the building is often turned into party offices by the MDC-T as political meetings are sometimes held there.
Mr Makone yesterday said they were creating a team and one had to work well with the team or ship out.
"It is either you belong to the team or you do not," said Mr Makone.
Mr Selemani stands accused of leaking a story to The Sunday Mail.
The story alleged that PM Tsvangirai was running a parallel Government and his office has employed "independent contractors" who are milking Government resources.
The paper said the independent contractors use Government resources to carry out their clandestine activities although they are not registered by the Public Service Commission.
The story claimed civil servants in the PM's Office were frequently clashing with the independent contractors who report directly to PM Tsvangirai or Mr Makone.
This has reportedly resulted in the resignation of eight principal directors.
Mr Selemani yesterday said Mr Makone suspected him of leaking the story, a charge he denied.
"When I arrived at work today, party (MDC-T) security guards were manning the office and they told me that I was not supposed to have access into the building.
"They manhandled me saying they were following an instruction from Makone," Mr Selemani said.
The MDC-T security guards claimed to have received the instruction on Monday night.
On Monday, Mr Selemani was thrown out of a meeting chaired by PM Tsvangirai at Charter House.
"We were about to have a meeting yesterday with the PM when Makone and Gandhi Mudzingwa decided to call party security guards who threw me out," he said.
