Information Communication Technology Minister, Nelson Chamisa has showered praises on President Robert Mugabe for his visionary work in pioneering the computerisation of Zimbabwean schools.

Speaking at the launch of the National E-learning Programme at Chogugudza School in Domboshava, Chamisa said the inauguration of the e-learning programme is a celebration of Zimbabwe's advancement in the digital world, thanks to President Mugabe, who has pioneered the policy through his schools computerisation programme 10 years ago.

Mr Chamisa spoke glowingly of the various advantages of ICTs such as speeding up communication using minimum effort and reaching out to communities in remote areas of the country.

He however warned government and school authorities to guard against internet abuse and safeguard the country's national values and Zimbabwe's moral fabric, saying improper use of the internet may lead to moral decadence such as promotion of prostitution, homosexuality and other vices.

He also urged teachers to continue acquiring and expanding their knowledge, lest they are substituted by the new ICTS.
