Jail time for axe gang members

TWO men have been jailed for eight years, another for four years while two others are still at large after they struck a 72-year-old man with an axe on the head leaving him seriously injured.
Nkosikhona Mlilo (28) of Nyandeni Farm in Matobo, Henry Mathe (24) and Petros Mathe (18) both from Kensington area in Bulawayo and their accomplices who were armed with machetes, axes and iron rods, attacked Mr Jerious Dube of Nyandeni Village in Matobo after he reprimanded them for assaulting his sons.
The trio pleaded not guilty to attempted murder when they appeared before Gwanda regional magistrate, Mr Mark Dzira, but were convicted due to overwhelming evidence.
Mr Dzira sentenced Mlilo and Henry to eight years imprisonment each and suspended two years on condition that they do not commit a similar offence within the next five years. He sentenced Petros to four years imprisonment after taking his age into consideration. Two years were suspended on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
