President Emmerson Mnangagwa has gazetted that Zimbabwe will hold its general elections on July 30.

The elections would be the first since the ouster of former president Robert Mugabe following a military operation in November.

According to Proclamation (2 of 2018) by President Mnangagwa issued today, elections will be held on Monday 30 July.

If the elections fail to provide a clear winner, a runoff will be held on Saturday, September 8 2018.

The Nomination Court, on June 14 will commence at 10am at the High Court and for aspiring MPs at the country's main magistrates' court.

The vote will pit him against a clutch of opponents, including 40-year-old Nelson Chamisa from the main opposition Movement for Democratic Change
