Zapu spokesperson Iphithule Thembani Maphosa who is also candidate for Bulawayo Central has bemoaned the delay by Zimbabwe Electoral Commission to unveil the new voters roll to the parties few days before the nomination court which seats this week.

"Four days before nominations court sits on Thursday 14 June 2018 and there's no voters roll available to contesting parties and the general citizenry. All SACD and AU protocols and guidelines on free, fair and credible elections violated with impunity by ZEC and the Zimbabwean coup government," he said.

"Anybody can be forgiven suspecting and being convinced the 2018 game has already been lost for opposition. The voters roll is being tempered with as we speak on a Sunday afternoon while our opposition parties are falling on each others feet trying to outdo each other. This is the time opposition should unite and be on the streets demanding the voters roll from ZEC. This also is the time the British government stops its hypocrisy and stop backstopping the coup government and like the US, demand a free, fair and credible 2018 election in Zimbabwe."

He said this is the time ZEC should wake up to the reality that we expect them not to only look professional and non partisan, but that they should be as such as per dictates of the Zimbabwean constitution.

"I repeat, the game is on and the voters roll is being tempered with. The electoral thieves are busy cleaning it up. Not only is the custodian of it is unknown to the opposition parties, but what the military is doing with it. Opposition must unite and demand the voters roll before nominations court sits. A court interdict application should be considered if protests fail. Let's see if the opposition in Zimbabwe is really about change by them uniting on this regard," he said.
