HARARE - Hundreds of desperate job seekers thronged a local hotel on Saturday for interviews by Qatar Airways, a Middle East airline that is set to start operations in Zimbabwe soon.
Hundreds of people could be seen queuing as early as seven in the morning but by midday most people had not been attended to as people kept on flocking to try their luck.
This follows an advert by the Middle East airline for cabin crew positions.
The crowd however, grew impatient by waiting for hours while standing in the queue.
Police had to be called in to intervene and control the restless crowd.
Trained air hostesses from the struggling airline, Air Zimbabwe were part of the crowd.
A former Air Zimbabwe worker only identified as Pamela said her life had been terrible since she was pushed out of her job at the ailing national airline.
Qatar Airlines comes in two months after another Middle East airliner Emirates started operating in the country in February.
