The Supreme Court has suspended the deportation of a gay Zimbabwean asylum seeker. The court is considering the man's asylum application and has ruled that he cannot be deported until it has reached a decision.

The man, who has lived in Finland for more than ten years, has already sought asylum three times. The last application was rejected in June 2011.

The man had been in hiding from the authorities since then, but before the Supreme Court's decision he had been apprehended in Espoo.

His application is now being handled by the court, and the deportation order cannot now be executed until his the court rules on his application.
