The Zimbabwe Republic Police has embarked on an operation code named "Safe Easter Holiday" which will see more traffic officers being deployed to reduce road accidents ahead of the Easter holiday.
The operation is aimed at ensuring that road users abide by traffic regulations.
ZRP National Traffic spokesperson, Inspector Tigere Chigome said under the operation, only public transporters will be allowed to ferry commuters.
He revealed that the public must expect more road blocks as the police officers will be carrying out inspections on all public transporters.
Inspector Chigome encouraged members of the public to report cases of corruption and the bribery of traffic officers saying the organisation has made it clear on its stance of zero tolerance to corruption.
People who spoke to ZBC encouraged drivers to desist from drinking and driving to avoid unnecessary loss of life.
Last year, a total of 69 people died and 410 others were injured in road accidents that occurred during the Easter holiday.
