A voilent Glen-View man was arrested for bashing his pregnant wife for going to church without his approval, the court heard. For that reason, Cleopas Kumure (25), who resides at No. 5835 Glen-View 3 appeared before Mbare magistrate Arnold Maburo facing an assault charge.
He pleaded guilty before he was sentenced to pay a fine of US$50 forthwith, failure of which he will spend 30 days in prison. Cleopas punched his five-months pregnant wife Anatolia Kalitapira (22) in the stomach and on her back after she had gone to church without his consent. On 11 March in the evening, Anatolia went to church leaving her husband at home.
State Counsel Tungamirirayi Muganhiri had it that when she returned home after the church service she saw her husband sitting in their bedroom. It is State's case that without wasting much time he simply questioned her why she had gone to church without his knowledge. In surprise, the wife failed to answer the question before her furious husband.
Cleopas then showcased his KUNG-FU skills on her wife on the stomach several times. The court heard that Anatolia usually goes to church where she seeks spiritual help though her husband is against that idea. Anatolia reported the matter to police leading to Cleopas' arrest.
