Habakkuk Trust director Dumisani O Nyongolo Nkomo has warned aspiring house of assembly that the role of legislators is not to make a lot of fake promises they are doing at the moment but theirs is to make policies which are good for the country and its citizens.
"MP's have no business building toilets and donating second hand shoes. Its time we clearly defined the role of members of parliament and the role of councilors. Aspiring candidates have no business promising people which are none of their business. Members of parliament are supposed to ensure the country has good laws and policies, exercise oversight over the executive etc," he said
"This confusion has been accentuated by the Constituency Development Fund which has really confused roles."
