Man fined $50 for forcing wife to drink his urine

A 40-year-old Mbare man forced his wife to drink 500ml of his urine as a form of punishment for causing the arrest of his sister before giving her a thorough bashing, the court heard. Kudakwashe Chinogureyi of Nouse No. 1 Sondayi Street Mbare National, stood in the dock facing a charge of physical abuse thereby contravening the domestic violence act.

He pleaded guilty to the charge before Mbare magistrate Arnold Maburo convinced him on his own plea. For the offence he was slapped with a US$50 fine, failure of which he will spend 30 days in prison. Kudakwashe assaulted his 32-year-old wife Elizabeth Mugabe after an altercation over the arrest of his sister.

The State led by prosecutor Mirirai Mavemwa, proved that on 29 March at around 3pm, Elizabeth was at their place of residence when a misunderstanding arose. It was heard that Kudakwashe came back from his drinking spree with friends and found his wife asleep. He proceeded to remove blankets accusing her of reporting his sister to the police causing her arrest.

The State, further had it that Kudakwashe went on to punch his wife using open hands and fists all over her body. As if that was not enough, Kudakwashe then went into the bathroom and urinated in a 500ml soft drink container and forced her to drink his urine. Elizabeth was forced to imbibe three-quarters of the urine. However, Kudakwashe then left her with some injuries on her body forcing her to report the matter to the police.
