Some disgruntled MDC Alliance supporters in ward 13, Gwanda Central constituency have accused the MDC-T of grabbing the council seat that was allocated to alliance partners, saying imposition of candidates will be costly to the party.

Some supporters of the MDC Alliance have rejected the party's ward 13 candidate for the coming general elections, Mr Welcome Moyo, who was clandestinely fielded by Advocate Nelson Chamisa's party despite a decision taken by alliance partners to allow Mr Meclas Ndlovu to vie for the position.

Angry supporters told MDC Alliance spokesperson, Professor Welshan Ncube, who addressed a rally in Ntepe, Matabeleland South Province, that the party will lose to Zanu PF, as they will not accept imposition of candidates.

"We want to understand how Welcome Moyo became the candidate for ward 13 after we agreed that that MeclasNndlovu was our preferred man. To be honest with you, if you don't address this issue, Zanu PF will win," one supporter said.

Professor, Welshman Ncube who had a hard time calming the disgruntled supporters pledged to resolve the issue.

"I am not sure how that happened but I will talk to the leadership here and see if we can address the matter. Once we come up with a solution we will come back to you," said Professor Ncube.

In his earlier address to the poorly attended rally, Professor Ncube reiterated the party's resolve to stop elections if the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission does not meet their ballot paper demands.

"As the MDC Alliance, we are saying we want to be part of the designing, printing and storage of the ballot papers .We will not accept it any other way. If they fail to yield to our demands they will be no election," he said.

ZEC has maintained that it will follow the law in conducting the 2018 polls while President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Saturday said the elections are going ahead as proclaimed.
