A 36-year-old man from Mashanga village ward 10 in Mbire was killed by a Hippo last week after trying to chase it away from his field, Bulawayo24.com has learnt.

According to a game ranger, Takunda Siveka (36) was attacked and killed by a Hippo after he was trying to chase it away from his field, the Hippo fled after killing him.

"We received a report that Siveka was killed by a stray Hippo after he tried to chase it away from his field. It subsequently charged at him, killing him on the spot.

"By the time we got to the scene, the Hippo had fled and we are still hunting for it," confirmed the ranger who spoke in confidentiality.
Two weeks ago residents at Early Worm farm were having torrid time with a Hippo that was living 50 meters away from their compound and destroying their gains.

Stray animals in Mbire are killing people at an alarming rate and their legislator Honourable Karoro is always on the record imploring the government to take action.
