MDC-T to bar men from contesting female held seats

MDC-T deputy spokesperson Thabitha Khumalo has said all seats in parliament held by women would not be contested for any male party member.
Khumalo says this is in sink with her party's efforts of encouraging gender equity.
"It has been noted that in the past we have complained about lack of women representation. Therefore with this we aim to encourage more women taking party in politics," said Khumalo.
Khumalo declared that her party is confident of retaining all female held seats countrywide in the coming elections and even grab some from incumbent males, possible this year.
Zimbabwe has just close to 16 percent of women legislators. However, some prospective female candidates from political parties are barred from contesting by their husbands.
