AAG blasts Tsvangirai!

The Affirmative Action Group (AAG) has criticised Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai for attacking the indigenisation policy enacted by government to economically empower indigenous Zimbabweans.
The Premier last week said transferring 51% of foreign-owned mining companies to locals is not government policy.
This is despite the enactment of the economic empowerment and indigenisation law of 2009.
The comment followed an announcement by the Minister of Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment that mining firms that did not comply with the indigenisation requirements had ceded controlling shares to the government.
AAG Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Davison Gomo, said it is worrying that the Prime Minister has chosen to support foreign interests rather than a policy which favours the local majority.
"There is absolutely no debate about this because the law is very clear. After all, the Minister responsible for indigenisation is not coming from the woods; he gave foreign mining companies ample time to decide on their indigenisation plans," he said.
Dr Gomo said the indigenisation law promotes complete transformation of the local economy.
He urged the people of Zimbabwe to think very clearly on whether they want a system that is dominated by foreign companies or to vote for a system that is trying to give them real control over their economy.
