A Bulawayo magistrate was Wednesday forced to issue a warrant of arrest against already convicted MDC Alliance MP candidate for Bulawayo South, Kunashe Muchemwa who had absconded the day's court proceedings.
According to NewZimbabwe.com, on Friday last week, magistrate Sithembile Ncube convicted Muchemwa and three other party activists after they were found guilty of public violence.
This followed skirmishes at the main opposition's Bulawayo provincial offices March this year.
Magistrate Ncube was supposed to deliver her sentence Wednesday but the aspiring lawmaker was found to have failed to turn up, prompting the state to apply for his warrant of arrest.
"I do not know what happened to him Your Worship. I was expecting to see him here for the sentence," the accused's lawyer, Prince Butshe Dube from Mathonsi Ncube Law Chambers told court.
