Streetwise Informal Traders director Percy Mcijo has said the electoral code of conduct must be adhered to by all political players amid concerns there were escalating violations of it.
"What is important in this is that there must be evidence to prove that distribution of these during campaign period were meant for vote buying though it is obvious that its the purpose served that of vote buying we are short of legislation prohibiting the act out right," he said.
"But one can still use the code of conduct where it deals with don'ts of the pre election period, because one would say why do it now. I am still of the view that the code of conduct must be observed as a nation I believe that we don't want a disputed electoral process leading to disputed results what it therefore means is that all political parties and candidates must avoid doing anything that can be associated with vote buying."
