UZ Vice Chancellor injured in accident

Twelve people, including University of Zimbabwe Vice Chancellor, Professor Levi Nyagura were injured in an accident that occurred near the campus in Mount Pleasant this morning.
The accident which occurred this Wednesday morning involved a commuter omnibus and a Toyota Vigo vehicle belonging to Professor Nyagura.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene of the accident, the driver of the commuter omnibus was trying to evade a police roadblock.
"The driver of the commuter omnibus was trying to evade a road block. He saw a police vehicle and tried to overtake two vehicles. That is when he rammed into a Toyota Vigo which was coming from the opposite direction," said one eye witness.
The injured were ferried to Rock Foundation Medical Centre and Parirenyatwa Hospitals where they are reported to be in a stable condition.
Zimbabwe Republic Police National Traffic spokesperson, Inspector Tigere Chigome, who confirmed 12 people were injured, said police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
