Man arrested for stealing underwear

A caretaker from Richard Ellis Company will perform 140 hours of community service for stealing 40 pairs of male underwear from Birira Investments.

Tinofireyi Takaendesa (30) who is employed by Richard Ellis as a caretaker conived with Conwell Eleven and Lawrence Hove who ate still at large and stole from Birira Investments.

Tinofirei appeared before Mbare magistrate Arnold Maburo facing charges of theft. He pleaded guilty to the charge before magistrate Arnold Maburo slapped him with a seven month jail term.

Three months were suspended on condition that he restitutes $160 which was the value of the loot. The remaining four months were commuted to 140 hours of community service.

He expressed ignorance over the offence citing a defence that he was not aware that he was committing an offence. Prosecutor Michael Chakandida had it that sometime in January this year, Tinofirei was on duty performing his duties as usual.

It is the State's case that he was in the company of Conwell and Lawrence who worked at Birira Investments. The trio connived and hatched a plan to steal 40 men's underwear before they disappeared.

The pair of Conwell and Lawrence then ran away and are still at large. However, Tinofirei ran out of luck when he was arrested and brought to court. The loot was valued at US$160 and nothing was recovered.
