Zanu-PF Secretary for Lands, Dr Ignatius Chombo says the land reform programme is irreversible and white commercial farmers who were ousted will not be allowed back into the country to reverse the gains of the agrarian reform.
Dr Chombo's statement comes in the wake of reports that some white commercial farmers who left the country after their farms were gazetted during the land reform programme are making frantic efforts to come back and stifle the progress that the country has made in the agricultural sector.
He reiterated that the land reform is irreversible and no amount of pressure from the disgruntled white former commercial farmers will make Zanu-PF look back.
Dr Chombo emphasised the need for financial institutions to support the agricultural sector through availing loans which have low interest rates.
The land reform programme, which saw over 400 000 households being given land, has been a success especially in the tobacco sector which saw a good quality of the crop being produced this season.
