A 23-YEAR-old Marange woman committed suicide last week after discovering that she had been impregnated by her husband's young brother.
Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa confirmed the incident that occurred in Nyamadzawe Village under Chief Marange.
Tariro Fenyere, who is alleged to have been involved in an extra-marital relationship with her husband's young brother, could not stomach the fct that she had fallen pregnant by him.
She is believed to have downed an unknown poisonous substance after a whitish substance with strong odour was discovered at the scene.
"Fenyere went to sleep in her bedroom on July 26, at around 8pm. The following day at around 8am, her mother-in-law, Mrs Mwanditani Mukudza (79), went to her room to tell Fenyere that she was going to the garden but there was no response," said Insp Kakohwa.
Upon entering the room, Mrs Mukudza found her daughter-in-law lying motionless in the room and called her neighbours for help. Fenyere was declared dead by police officers who attended the scene.
